Why Shared Expenses?

Shared Expenses grew out of a familiar problem: travelling with friends, where different people pay for accommodation, restaurants, tickets, transport, and other shared costs. Keeping track manually quickly becomes confusing, especially when costs are split differently or money is refunded later.

The app keeps everything in one place, updates each person's balance, and shows who should pay whom.

How it works

Create a trip, add the people travelling together, and record shared expenses and who paid for them. The balances update as expenses, refunds, and payments are added, so everyone can see where things stand and settle up whenever needed.

When all balances reach zero, the owner can finish the trip. It remains available as a read-only record.

Try the playground

Explore a sample trip without signing in. The playground lets you try the same core features as a real trip, including expenses, refunds, payments, balances, and reports.

The playground is shared with other visitors and its contents are temporary. Do not enter personal information.

Things to know

• A trip uses one currency and can contain up to eight participants.
• Private trips require Google sign-in. The owner can give other people access by email.
• You can own up to three trips, including finished trips. Trips shared with you by someone else do not count towards this limit.
• Anyone who has a public link can open its read-only view without signing in. Share the link only with people who should see the trip.
• Finishing a trip is permanent and is available only when everyone is settled.
